Exercise Physiology is essential for collecting and demonstrating research on the inferior disease, cancer. Cancer is a terrible disease that millions are affected by worldwide. One way to treat this disease is to use chemotherapy. A drug used in chemotherapy is Doxorubicin. Doxorubicin destroys cancerous cells, but also destroys normal cells. When normal cells are destroyed, daily activities may become a challenge for patients. One way to neutralize this process is by using the organic acid, creatine. Creatine can help protect against Doxorubicin and act as an antioxidant in a patient’s body. Damage to the cells will be decreased when using creatine. Using creatine to neutralize Doxorubicin causes daily activities to become less of a struggle and helps step closer to curing cancer. By using rats we looked at how creatine and Doxorubicin interact with each other and the data produced. The EDL had better results than the Soleus because muscle fiber type 2 absorbs more creatine. The creatine group also had better results than the other groups because no damage was done and more ATP was produced. If scientists and researchers can use creatine to our advantage cancer will be a disease of the past.
